Past Productions
Originally 'Newtown and District Churches Amateur Operatic Society' and later simply 'Newtown Operatic Society', we changed our name in 1999 to 'Newtown Musical Theatre Company'.
NOS was founded in 1983 and our first production was a Gilbert & Sullivan evening with Trial by Jury. We have performed an annual show at Theatr Hafren in Newtown every year and many other concerts at venues around Mid Wales, both for our own and charity fundraising. In 2000 it was decided to replace the concerts with a second show in the autumn. The first of these was held at Newtown High School in October 2000 and the second was held at Theatr Hafren in October 2001.
The earlier shows were mostly Gilbert & Sullivan and other operettas, but the Society successfully branched into Broadway musicals in 1993 with Oklahoma! These days there is a variety of shows, including operetta, Gilbert & Sullivan and box office smash hit musicals.
In chronological order, the shows are listed opposite. Pictures and information about the shows can be found by clicking the links below.
