WHO CAN JOIN?

We are always pleased to welcome new members of all ages, whether you are interesed in performing or helping out backstage. The minimum age for membership is 11, however children under the age of 11 may participate in some shows, where suitable parts are available, at the invitation of the Director and General Management Committee.

You do not need any previous experience of performing to join us on stage, and you do not need to audition to join the chorus. However, you will need to audition if you wish to be considered for a solo part. All chorus members are required to sing and act, and the majority are also asked to do some dancing.

If you would like to join us but don't fancy appearing on stage, we are always looking for people to help out backstage. This can include directing, conducting, playing the piano during rehearsals, production management, set design and construction, wardrobe, make up, poster and programme design, props, stage crew, publicity, fund raising, making refreshments, washing up, organising social events and much, much more!

HOW DO I JOIN?

Joining is simple - speak to any of our members or just come along to a rehearsal. You will need to fill in an application form and pay your first year's membership fees, which can be seen below.

Subject to acceptance by the General Management Committee, which is usually only a formality, you can join in rehearsals straight away.

Please note, however, that for each show there is a CUT OFF DATE for performing members, this is to ensure that everyone is sufficiently prepared for the performance. For the Spring show this is usually the 31st of December, and for the Autumn show, the 30th of June.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

Performing members are asked to pay the following annual subscriptions, which are due after the AGM in October each year. In 2009 - 2010 the rates are as follows:

*  including those aged 17-21, OAPs, students and those on income support.
** those aged 11-16.

As our shows generally cost more to put on than they raise in box office receipts, we carry out a lot of fund raising throughout the year. Regular events include a barbecue for members and family/friends, bingo evenings, raffles etc. Donations of raffle prizes are always welcomed. We are also very grateful to our Patrons for their donations. If you are interested in becoming a Patron of NMTC, more information is available here.

REHEARSALS

It is important that all performers attend as many rehearsals as possible. Please let the Director know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a rehearsal. There are no rules on how many rehearsals you have to attend but the Director has the right to exclude from a show any cast member who is not, in their opinion, sufficiently well rehearsed.
